VISIONARY
The Wright Perspective
Troy E. Wright is a builder — of people, organizations, cultural movements, and lasting impact. His career spans music, leadership, business, and community transformation, all driven by purpose and a commitment to elevating others.
At 27, Troy founded the Washington State Mass Choir, becoming the first choir in Washington State history to reach the Billboard Top 40 — a groundbreaking cultural moment for the region.
Troy later took on one of the most significant roles in American music as Vice President of the Jimi Hendrix Estate, working directly with the Hendrix family. He helped lead a pivotal two-year legal battle that restored control of Jimi Hendrix’s legacy to his rightful heirs and strengthened the estate’s long-term future.
During this time, Troy also served as Executive Producer of the Grammy Award–winning documentary “The Making of the Band of Gypsys,” a landmark project that introduced Hendrix’s revolutionary artistry to a new generation.
His production influence extended across genres. Troy was Executive Producer for gospel artist Kenny Smith, whose project won New Artist of the Year at the Stellar Awards, and for Eboni Foster, whose hit “Crazy for You” reached #12 on the Billboard R&B Singles Chart. He also mentored Ayron Jones, the guitarist and singer who went on to earn multiple #1 Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay hits.
As an entrepreneur, Troy owned and operated Ascada Bistro, an upscale Seattle restaurant recognized for excellence and innovation. The restaurant earned statewide acclaim by winning 3rd Best Entrée in Washington State for its signature Gorgonzola Beef Tenderloin.
After relocating to Miami, Troy expanded his work in community leadership, working closely with the Trayvon Martin Foundation to organize peaceful rallies, youth programs, and national conversations during a pivotal moment in modern civil rights history.
Troy also serves on multiple influential boards, including:
-
The Academy of Hospitality and Tourism
-
Urban Studios at FIU
-
The Miami Beach Police Citizens Committee
These roles allow him to support cultural development, tourism strategy, conflict resolution, and community advancement.
His leadership has earned multiple awards, including:
-
Father of the Year – Seattle
-
Recognition as one of Miami Today Newspaper’s Influential People
-
Two-time nominee for Tourism Professional of the Year (Miami-Dade County)
These honors reflect his impact across cities, industries, and generations.
Today, Troy serves as Executive Director of the Washington Avenue Business Improvement District (WAVE BID) in Miami Beach, leading major cultural events, tourism initiatives, arts programming, business development, public safety strategies, and district revitalization that support hundreds of businesses and reshape one of Miami’s most iconic corridors.
Throughout his life, Troy has stayed grounded in a single mission:
