WASHINGTON AVENUE BID
FROM STRUGGLE TO THE SPOTLIGHT
Absolutely! Here’s a powerful, compelling narrative that brings together the history of your marketing experience—from legendary music beginnings to award-winning community impact:
From Hendrix to Historic Avenues: A Life in Marketing That Moves People
My story in marketing didn’t start in a boardroom—it started in a recording studio echoing with soul, rhythm, and the sounds of change.
As a young man growing up in Washington State, I was inspired by the music legends who came before me. Jimi Hendrix—another son of Seattle—was more than a guitar icon. He was proof that art, when marketed with passion and authenticity, could change culture. That fire stuck with me.
In 1988, I founded the Washington State Mass Choir, a powerhouse of over 100 voices that became the first choir in Washington State history to break into Billboard’s Top 40 with the album Got My Ticket. But behind the harmonies was a marketing engine—grassroots promotion, storytelling, radio campaigns, and national partnerships. We didn’t just perform—we connected. The choir received multiple award nominations and became a cultural force that inspired thousands.
From there, my marketing journey evolved across industries, but the mission remained: use creativity and connection to make an impact.
Years later, I took the helm of the Washington Avenue Business Improvement District (BID) in Miami Beach—a place with history as rich as any gospel hymn or guitar solo. At the time, the district was struggling with vacancies, low foot traffic, and a fractured identity. I brought in everything I’d learned from the music industry: how to build a brand, engage an audience, and turn an underdog into a headliner.
Through immersive experiences like the Vibration live music series, strategic branding, influencer marketing, public-private partnerships, and revitalization efforts, we increased foot traffic by 15%, reduced vacancies by 25%, and reignited excitement for one of America’s most iconic streets.
Marketing isn’t just about selling something—it’s about stirring something. Whether through a gospel choir, a historic avenue, or an international food tour, my goal has always been to move people: emotionally, culturally, and literally—into businesses, events, and experiences they’ll never forget.
Today, I bring over 30 years of marketing, branding, and storytelling expertise to projects that matter. If you’re ready to grow your brand, your district, or your movement—let’s make history together.
